I joined the Internet's TRDEV-L discussion list early in 1993 and began replying to the same questions over and over. With about 350 people on the list, several questions I posted went unanswered. As I searched for answers from other sources I wanted to find a way to streamline my learning process. This lead me to begin developing these Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) postings. When I found an answer, I posted it to the list. The first TRDEV-L/Training FAQ was a simple text file answering only a few short questions. Today the FAQs are a series of web pages that address as many learning-related questions as I can answer. These are growing, changing files that reflect the diverse interests of learning and training professionals. While I can't promise everything for everybody, I can confidently say you can benefit from something here. Though I've been in the education industry for about 10 years, I describe what I do today more in terms of its learning and productivity impact. For that reason, I include learning, productivity, performance-based, organizational development, and human resource development questions and answers, too.
At the end of 1997 I was put the FAQs on PeopleSofts PeoplePages area, where employees were able to keep personal home pages and links. Early 1998 I moved the FAQs to their current home, a dedicated Learnativity site, where I can update them and track which pages are accessed most Please bookmark this site so you can return again. http://www.learnativity.com/training_FAQs/ As the world around us changes and grown, needing to focus more on individualized lifelong learning and less on sheep dipping passive students, eyes are on those of us who have been thinking about how to accomidate these changes for a while. As these exciting changes unfold, I look forward to hearing about anything I can add to make these documents more complete and helpful to you.
