We're co-hosting the Learning Object Symposium: Creating a Culture of Learning Object Design September 5th-6th in Menlo Park, California USA.

Come learn more about the issues, opportunities, and challenges that learning designers face as the evolving worlds of content creation, digital resource management, e-Learning, and knowledge management converge.

The event is designed to bring learning object stakeholders together to begin defining new directions of learning object design practice. Our goal is to promote and encourage the adoption of learning object designs as a cornerstone for e-Learning and knowledge management implementations.

Partners include SRI Business Intelligence, The eLearning Guild, and eLearning Forum.


Ellen Wagner and Marcia Conner are facilitating an advanced workshop on Leveraging learning objects: Current status and future directions at the 18th Annual Conference on Distance Teaching & Learning in Madison, Wisconsin August 14-16.

eLearning Developers' Journal features a new article The New Frontiers of Learning Object Design by Ellen Wagner.

The Conference Board hosts terrific events on eLearning. Marcia Conner moderated this years events in San Diego and New York City. Wayne Hodgins gave the lunchtime keynote in San Diego.

Marcia Conner hosted with the Darden School a colloquium on Creating a Learning Culture. The outcomes (notes, pictures, and a webboard) have been posted. Wayne Hodgins, Ellen Wagner, and Marcia wrote articles for the event primer entitled Transformative Learning.

This is a new organization from our good friends David Holcombe and Heidi Fisk (the forces behind the now defunct Influent Technologies) who we will be working with in various ways this coming year.

(Relevant Effective Adaptive Learning) (307KB). [ required for each presentation]. We also welcomed many readers while they were visiting the TechLearn 2001 conference. They were interested in what we do and how we can help you, many resources on Learning Objects, and about 100 more learning-related areas that help readers improve anything they're interested in doing.

Learning in the New Economy Magazine (LiNE Zine) released a Summer 2001 issue on "Integrating Learning, Working, and Life."

This spring and summer we've spent time on the road consulting and speaking with organizations about the changing economy and the new learning mandate. Were in the process of including what we've learned in different parts of this site. We've also been busy chasing new addresses for organizations that have upsized because of increasing opportunity, downsized into smaller facilities, or merged with someone else to build a stronger organization. If you notice any address that needs to be changed, please let us know!

Marcia took a website break to redesign this site and to launch Learning in the New Economy Magazine (LiNE Zine) to introduce thought-leadership, performance, human capital, and knowledge in the 21st Century. The theme for the first issue is Productivity and Learning.

There are all sorts of changes going on behind the scenes as Marcia prepares the 2000 site update for both the FAQs and the Learnativity site. In the meantime, she's added a learning styles assessment and is testing out a search engine for the site. Happy New Years.

Because we only can update this between other projects, there have been some lapses over the past few years.

Now that Marcia is writing, speaking, and consulting full time, she spends more time updating the site each week.
